The details of the above entitlements are enumerated below.
Funeral Allowance. A sum of Rs. 1000/- can be drawn from the ship's imprest subject to post-audit and paid towards funeral expenses to the next of kin.
Grant from INBA. The grants admissible to the deceased sailor/pensioner are :-
The Administrative Authority concerned should remit the lump sum grant from the Command Benevolent Fund to the next of kin of the deceased immediately on receipt of death report. In case of death of pensioners, NOK should apply to the Secretary INBA through Zila/Rajya Sainik Board.
Payment of Naval Group Insurance Benefits. The benefits admissible for payment from Naval Group Insurance Fund are :-
(a) Whilst in Service. A sum of Rs. 3.5 lakh plus survival benefits is admissible on death of a sailor whilst in service.
(b) Pensioners. A sum of Rs. 1.5 lakh is admissible to the nominee of the pensioner if the pensioner had subscribed for PRDIES. If the death occurs within the insurance cover period (that is, 15 years from the date of retirement or 70 years of age whichever is earlier). The nominee should apply to the Secretary NGIF, New Delhi along with following certificates :-

Affidavit as per specimen supplied with insurance certificate
Pre-receipt
AFPPF Dues. Payment will be forwarded by Naval Pay Office to Commanding Officer for effecting the payment to the Next of Kin.
DLIS Scheme. (Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme) - An additional amount equal to the average balance in the account during the last three years restricted to maximum of Rs. 60,000/- is payable if the credit balance during the last three years preceding the month of death have not fallen below the following limits :-

Note :- This is applicable if the sailor has put in a minimum of five years of service.
Death Gratuity. The rate of death gratuity is depend on the length of the qualifying service of the deceased sailor. The maximum limit of Death Gratuity is 3.5 Lakh. Payment will be made by CDA (N) Mumbai along with Family Pension through Pension Disbursing Authority as request of the family.
Ordinary Family Pension. The ordinary Family Pension is entitled to wife/children/ parents.
(a) This is admissible at the rate of 30% of reckonable emoluments subject to minimum of Rs. 1275/- p.m. If death occurs within seven of retirement, Pension will be double the rate subject to the maximum of 50% of the pay last drawn whichever is less, for first 07 years after death. Thereafter ordinary rate of family pension will be admissible.
(b) If only child/children is/are surviving, Ordinary Family Pension is payable as follows :-
(i) The surviving first child will be entitle pension till the age of 25 years or up to the date of his/her marriage whichever earlier provided his/her income does not exceed Rs. 2550/- p.m. Thereafter Family Pension shall pass on to next eligible child.
(ii) In case of handicapped children, lifetime pension is admissible subject to fulfillment of various conditions.
(iii) Widowed/divorced daughter up to the age of 25 years or marriage whichever is earlier shall also be included in the family and entitled for Family Pension.
Special Family Pension. The Special Family Pension is entitled to wife/children/parents of deceased sailor whose death is attributable and aggravated to the Naval Service. The Special Family Pension is calculated at the uniform rate of 60% of Reckonable emoluments subject to a minimum of Rs. 2550/- p.m. There is no maximum ceiling on Special Family Pension.
Conveyance of Family and Transportation of Baggage to SPR. The family of a deceased sailor is entitled for free conveyance on railway warrant in appropriate class to home town and transportation of baggage at Government cost as per the current rates.
Retention of Accommodation.
(a) The family of a deceased sailor can request for retention of family accommodation (rent free) on children education ground till end of academic year.
(b) The family accommodation can also be retained for a period of two years in all cases of death while in service on payment of normal license fee with approval of Station Commander.
Canteen Facilities. The family is entitled for canteen facilities other than liquor.
Assistance from NWWA. The Navy Wives Welfare Association also renders following Educational Scholarship :-
(a) Rs. 100/- p.m per child up to 8 class.
(b) Rs. 125/- p.m per child from 9th to 12 class.
Ex-Gratia Award. The families of sailors who die in harness in performance of bonafide official duties are entitled for following financial benefits as Ex-Gratia Award :-
(a) Accident while on duty = Rs. 5 Lakhs
(b) Violence by terrorist/anti social elements. = Rs. 5 Lakhs
(c) Enemy action in international War/action against militants/Terrorists/extremists etc. = Rs. 7.5 Lakhs
(d) Enemy action in international War like engagement specifically Notified by MOD = Rs. 10 Lakhs
Grant for Marriage of Children. A sum of Rs. 5000/- is admissible at the time of marriage of children of service personnel who died whilst in service or after are paid by INBA.
INBA Scholarship Scheme. The scholarships admissible are as follows :-
(a) For Graduation and PG Courses
(i) Day Scholar = Rs. 3000/- per annum
(ii) Boarder Scholar = Rs. 6000/- per annum
(b) Handicapped Children
(i) Boarders = Rs. 100/- per month
(ii) Day Scholar = Rs. 50/- per month
(iii) Cost of equipment for handicap = Rs. 1500/- (maximum 3 times)
Pending Enquiry Award (PEA). In case of a death due to accident, Pending Finalisation of Pension, the NOK is awarded an interim grant Rs. 1275/- per month. The amount is recovered through PPO after commencement of Family Pension.
